Well it will be a little quiet here for a time. My computer isn’t working, so needless to say no updates for a little while. Hopefully, I’ll be back at it soon!
Cheers!

For those of you who have relished the idea of Cooper and Walsh with a possible spin of show in the future, you might find this little review of their first outing as the stars of the night, live on stage, a fun read!
If you enjoy a bit of LOTSW in a new form, how about as a comic strip? A fan has kindly put together four different videos, uploading this entire book of LOTSW in comic form! (Plus some pictures of the real cast.)
In my opinion, it made for an easy transition, show to comic form. Each is like a little episode in itself. Enjoy!
And finally, I wasn’t able to post this directly on the blog, but check out yet another LOTSW montage!

Along with LOTSW, creator and writer Roy Clarke has had other shows to his credit. One that I’ve watched since childhood was the ever stereotypical English class conscious, Keeping Up Appearances. It wasn’t until later that I developed a taste for LOTSW, but both shows have given me endless joy. Still, as I grew to love them more and more, I also came to recognize, as perhaps anyone else who watches these two shows would, Clarke’s writing styles and situations for comedy. So, I thought it would be interesting to see how many parallels we can draw between these two shows, the stories, characters and just general “isms” of Roy Clark. Here are a few that I thought of…
- KUA and LOTSW are both set in smaller towns (as do most of Clarke’s shows from what I’ve seen.)
- Men are basically children and women (mainly wives) rule all!
- Compo and Onslow: both fierce drinkers, both animal lovers, both earn a living at a track, and neither will shave even if put at gun point!
- Edie and Hyacinth: Lady of the house speaking!
- Anything on four wheels is instant comedy, just add water! Between Onslow’s old banger and Clegg getting behind the wheel, you know what’s next!
- Even tarts can be sweet! Rose, Marina, Auntie Roz, to name a few.
- Some one at some point will, inevitable, stand on their head!
- Clegg and Onslow: Deep thinkers
- Religion was made to me mocked!
- Onslow and Daisy, Glenda and Barry: In the end, it’s true love!
- Richard, Wesley and Wally: Whipped!
- Most of the women’s lives revolve around church functions, silly hats and coffee!
- Compo and the Major: both knew a good looking woman when they saw one.
- There is at least ONE women almost everyone is afraid of!
- In every episode, the main plot and all subplots will collide in the end.
- Josephine Tewson
Well, there’s some to start. Can you add anymore?
