From The Huddersdfield Daily Examiner:

Ken Kitson and Louis Emerick – who play policemen Cooper and Walsh in the BBC comedy – are performing at the Civic Hall.

The pair will do an improvised show, taking their cues from the audience.

Ken said: “We’ll be playing the characters we play in Last of the Summer Wine but all the ideas will come from the audience. We thought we would start in Holmfirth and, if the show works, we’ll take it round the country.”

The show starts at 7.45pm on Saturday, June 6. Tickets costing £10 are available from Holmfirth Tourist Information Office on 01484 222 444.

Ken is hopeful that the BBC will commission a spin-off show based on the policemen characters.

He said: “We did a pilot programme last year which was well-received but unfortunately it went out on the same night as the Nadal-Federer Wimbledon final last year.

“The BBC are still talking about it because Last of the Summer Wine is on hold this year. This might be the best way to go, a spin-off involving some of the younger characters.”

Ken is a relative newcomer to the long-running show, having made his debut as recently as 1983.

 From the Lancaster Guardian:

THE STAGE version of the world’s longest running sitcom will be presented at Lancaster Grand Theatre next week. Last of the Summer Wine follows on from the huge success of Footlights comedy productions including Dad’s Army and Allo Allo.

The play features all the favourite characters from the TV series including Foggy, Clegg, Compo and Nora Batty.

Footlights actors will bravely take on the roles made famous by legends such as Bill Owen and Peter Sallis. It’s a lot of pressure but the cast are more than up to filling their shoes (or should that be wellies?).

The play is by the original writer Roy Clarke and follows the familiar Yorkshiremen through a typical misadventure involving Compo running around in his long johns, a streaker on the loose and Foggy and Clegg desperately trying to keep all this away from the ladies.

Last of the Summer Wine opens on Tuesday and runs until June 6.

Tickets are £6.50 for the first night, all other nights £8.50/£7.50 conc from the box office on 01524 64695 or online at www.lancastergrand.com.

Hobbo turns up at the river wall with Randolph, who he hopes will bring romance into Stella’s life. Randolph seems to lack any of the requirements of a potential suitor, and is limp and unattractive, especially after Hobbo drops him in the river. After a little rehearsal and some invaluable tips on how to give Stella ‘the look’, Randolph demonstrates that he has no chance whatsoever of impressing her. But there must be some way – for instance, who is Stella’s favourite movie character?

May 24th:

When Clegg and Truly tell Hobbo that local serial groom Norris Fairburn is free again, he decides that Norris would be an ideal husband for Stella.

At the cafe, Ivy observes and listens as Hobbo, Alvin and Entwistle discuss their fool-proof scheme. Later, Ivy warns Stella about the plot to provide her with one house-trained potential husband.

Hobbo and his team return with Norris, but both Stella and Ivy look at him with total disdain. Hobbo decides to save the day and speak on Norris’ behalf, but Stella has other ideas.

Thanks to the heads up from a fan from a LOTSW group, I’ve learned both Peter Sallis and June Witfield are to be guest stars of a new series for Kingdom, starring the amiable Stephen Fry, as Peter Kingdom.

Here’s an interview with Fry on the production and general.

Being such a fan of Mr. Fry, it will make it doubly wonderful for me to see him, hopefully, acting with too other favorites!

Howard is deeply concerned when Pearl starts going out every day with Nelly, and she will not say where. Hobbo comes to his aid, and heads a surveillance party to follow Pearl and Nelly. When the women go into a Hell’s Angels club, they decide not to be hasty, and confront them later.

Peter Sallis will be on Radio 4 on the program Desert Island discs next weekend. He will be sharing bits of his life, and what 8 records he would take with him on a deserted island. Sounds like good times!

According to promos for this,  it well be on next week at 11.15  in the morning, so if you are overseas you’ll have to figure what that is for you.
