No politics – not at all! Just had to post something about the constant battle to legalize same-sex marriage, and the absolutely appalling stupidity that went on to vote yes on Prop 8 in California. It got me wondering: besides people’s “ewww” problem with homosexuals, or the rabid religious sorts, what are the arguments against gay marriage? Who, in a REAL way, would this ever hurt? Here are some “ideas” I’ve learned:

1. Such a union has no chance of producing children, so it doesn’t serve the state and the people’s interests. To take an exact quote from one article against gay marriage: “The ancient definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman has its basis in biology, not bigotry.”

What…the… hell…
ANCIENT should be part of these people’s mottos.
Last I heard, we are not in shortage of people, my primitive ones, not to mention the state cannot decide the reasons for people getting married anyway. Older people have gotten married, so have the just plain infertile. So what the feck is this outlandish made up excuse come from? We are long past the times of humans getting together SOELY of the preservation of the race. Oh, and by the way, gay couples will not stop straight couples from happily continuing their procreating.

2. Children need a mother and a father

Children NEED loving people around them. Like it or not, sex is not the total way children know who they are. When they feel judgment over their same-sex parents, or their parents sense of self shame, THEN there is a problem! Your kidding yourself, with as high a divorce rate as there is, that children of heterosexual parents are just basking in healthy models for life. In my opinion, the way a child learns about their gender is also the way their parents treat they’re gender, and gender of those around them/

3. Allowing same-sex marriage will mean the allowing of marriage between multiple people, siblings, and people and animals.

Are homosexuals asking for those things? Suddenly your paranoid delusions take over and you grab for not only the stupidest but the most irreverent consequences! Your trying to compare the love of two people with things we KNOW will have problems. With many gay couples together for decades (blowing that “gays can’t be faithful” theory out of the water, ) they seem already far healthier then many married straight couples. (Not that I’m going to generalize.) They don’t have a lawful relationship, but they are willing to work out problems, differences, and stay together? ‘nuf said.

4. They’ll change marriage laws, then they’ll change divorce laws, so they can get out easily.

And where has this been said? Where is the proof that anyone has pushed this?

5. Children will be taught that same-sex unions are as natural and equal to opposite-sex unions, thus conflicting with parents religious/personal beliefs.

Parents can pull their children from any health or family teachings they do not believe in theirs being taught. Besides, there has been no mention of extending this to schools, and demands like “children MUST be taught about same-sex marriage” is something people against it have made up.
What’s funny about this is it’s as though parents fear their little ones, finding boys can like boys and girls can like girls, will be inspired and “go gay” all of a sudden.

So, we looked at some of the more often said reasons for why there are people against gay marriage. Honestly though, homosexuality has been around as long as time, the world has never known itself without it. Whether marriage is to be made legal for homosexuals totally in America anytime soon is yet to be seen, but it wont stop the existence, and like nothing will stop it, nothing will stop heterosexuals for going along their business, just as they have been, since time began.

Think about it wont you? Thank you!

Well, is it okay it say Happy New year still? No laws or nothing?

There have been things I have been meaning to post about, so I’ll just do little summaries, just to get it all out of my system without droning on about outdated stuff.

Kathy

1928 -2008

Very sad to hear  that Kathy Staff, British actress of soaps, best known as Nora Batty on the longest running Brit Com, “Last Of The Summer Wine,”  passed away in December of last year. She was one of the icons of the show, her and her wrinkeld  stockings (sorry Pete).

We’ll miss you Kathy…

I was a bit miffed by my ever loving Peter Sallis, refering to dealing with her absence as “filling up a gap,” making it sound like a simple thing to do,  a meaningless space, but he did say at the end of his BBC interview that she is “irreplaceable.”

Not The Last Of The Summer Wine

xmas2016

After Staff died, the shows’ continuing was somewhat in question for a week or so, but it is now most surely all go for a 30th (wow) season next fall. Luckily, we got a sample of what’s to come, including two new characters, a new trio and the end of Clegg and Truly’s outdoor adventures.

Do I like the new trio? Ah, they’re okay. Will I hate less Sallis and Thornton? Oh, God yes!

But I’ll give it a chance, come this Autumn.
