YAY!!

Today is Stephen Fry’s birthday! Yay! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MR FRY!! But what’s cooler then that? It’s mine also! It’s been awhile, my knowing of people who share their special day with some personality that they adore, and now I realize I am one who does, too!

I first laid eyes upon Fry in the BBC mini series, Gormenghast, playing a rather mild but sweet pedagogue (fyi, pedagogue is latin, meaning, “Slave who leads child to school” i.e. “teacher”… just thought that was funny,) for the main character. There was something about him that stood out like a a warm fire place in a dark room (well, the series was pretty dark,)  and he seemed so strangely familiar, though I don’t think I had seen him before. But it was the beginning of my liking for him. I’ve since seen A Bit of Fry and Laurie, (with Hugh Laurie, another comic-actor who I love,) one of the great comedy teamings of all time, and other TV shows, including QI. I got a double dose of my interests when he did a special on Bipolar disorder, his own living with it and the lives of others living with it, and of late he has started doing podcasts! Oh, and that voice…! He narrated the 2005 film, The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy, and even played a small part in a production of one of the latter books in the Hitchhikers series.

To learn more about him, check out his website, The Adventures of Mr. Stephen Fry

And just a taste…

So happy birthday, Mr. Fry, and may I say, a happy birthday to me as well!

Gosh, my second post about weight? Go figure!

Do you remember back in 2007, oh you know you do, when Jennifer Love Hewitt was photographed in her bikini, enjoying a swim with her fiancé, which caught her not so “Hollywood body.” In one statement she said:

“What I should be doing is celebrating some of the best days of my life and my engagement to the man of my dreams, instead of having to deal with photographers taking invasive pictures from bad angles. I know what I look like, and so do my friends and family. And like all women out there should, I love my body.

To all girls with butts, boobs, hips and a waist, put on a bikini — put it on and stay strong.”

 Crowed stands in roaring ovation
For the most part, whatever you think this means for a beauty image, many woman praised her for saying that there is nothing wrong with having some extra on your body. Yet, she was adamant that she was a size 2, and that is far fat, she said, and being a size 0 doesn’t make you beautiful.
Well, those are the right things to say, right?

Jennifer Love Hewitt Reveals Diet Secret for Her New Trimmer Figure to US Weekly

August 15, 2008 02:38:04 GMT

After being the center of media scrutiny back in November for her fuller figure, bounces back, showing off her new trimmer figure only to prove that she has what it takes with her physique. On the cover of the latest issue of US Weekly, the actress shows off her newly slimmed-down figure after losing 18 pounds in 10 weeks.

Jennifer Love Hewitt Exclusive 18 Lbs in Ten Weeks! Her Exact Diet and Workout Plan,” so reads the headline that accompanies two pictures of her, before and after the diet and workout. “I am in a pretty good workout regimen that I like, so it inspired me to keep it up,” Hewitt told US Weekly. “The energy level and the way I feel now is great.”

Late last year Hewitt angrily defended her curves after photos of her in a bikini were ridiculed on the Internet. She blogged an empowering cry to women everywhere to feel confident with their bodies and start wearing a bikini. She also landed a People cover under the headline “Don’t Call Me Fat.”

But Hewitt said that’s not why she shaped up. Her trainer Stevie Sant’Angelo tells the press, “With her, it’s not, ‘I want to look good in that dress,’ She wanted to start moving around because she thought it would make her feel better. She told me, ‘They said some rude, mean things, but that’s not why I wanted to change.’” It’s her overall health that matters, Stevie emphasized.

Anybody buying this? I mean, let her do what she will, that’s none of my business, although she is rather making it so.  But health? Come on! She was NOT fat, though somewhat out of shape, but hardly a walking heart attack! Seriously, this would mean nothing, if she had kept her mouth shut last year, or just said out with it, “I’m not happy with my body!” But she had to go so far with it, and looks to have dug a possible hole for herself.

This reminds me so much of Tyra Banks, with that self appointment as champion for curvaceous woman and girls, unleashing rageful rants on the paparazzi, (funny enough about a picture of her in her swimsuit,) letting them know that if she wasn’t the strong person she was, she would cave in.

Fast forward a few months, and Banks went on diet and lost 30 pounds. Total hypocrisy at it’s most grotesque: Make fools of the public, while making a fool of yourself.

How do you live with this sort of thing?

Hewitt had to tell the world that she was fine with her body, which was not the truth by the looks of things now, had to encourage woman to be happy with their bodies, and be proud of their curves.  If being a size 2 is good enough, is not “fat,” then why does she “appear” to be closing in on 0?

What does this mean “To all girls with butts, boobs, hips and a waist?”

Maybe what Jennifer Love Hewitt is really saying, is it’s easier to risk being called a liar, a hypocrite, an out of integrity moron – but “Don’t call me FAT!”

Well, I’m here to announce that we have FINALLY got part one of our “Buyer Beware” audio up! (Um, okay not the whole of part one, we keep having problems with YouTube, so consider this a SAMPLE!)  It’s a really big leap for us, putting it “out there” so feel free to comment. It’s our first, and we’re working on another as we speak.

Here’s a taste!

 Stay tuned!

Europa Productions (soon to have name change,) was created December of 2006, by a few people who love the lost art of Old Time Radio, and the new medium of digital audio drama. With a computer, music, and lots ideas, they decided to create their own amateur audio dramatizations of classic stories and original stories, that are about imagination and doing the best they can in contributing to this new movement in entertainment. Thanks to YouTube.com, we can bring this to you, as something just for fun, just something for your ears only.

A note on the production: As it will be easy to tell, only TWO people are acting, so you have to stretch your mind a bit. We hope it’s not too distracting! Also, just want to give it up for the wonderful Leo Diamond, and his beautiful work in music! Here we used “The Skin Diver’s Suite,” (RCA records, 1957) a delightful album, sadly never re-released after it’s original LP, giving our story a strange, surreal, and retro flavor!

Thank you, Leo!

So on with the show, this is it! Our FIRST production, our own original story!

A solar eclipse is a special event, but a total eclipse? What a treat! Trouble was, I happened to be in the majority of the Earth that was not going to see it, but thanks to NASA, I did! On their site, they streamed the whole of the event for us with only our internet, and they were our eyes.
Set up in China, it started very clear, then as time went on, you could see some cloud, cover like thick smoke, passing through our field of vision. I got a little nervous, though it seemed to pass over fairly quickly. But later, when the whole camera went dark, they had to pull away to some guys there, who explained that it was looking too cloudy. “You could hear people starting to boo!” said one. Everyone was getting worried. The final totality was happening in just minuets!

But, like something out there had seen too many suspense films, the clouds began to sheer, and we saw the beautiful sight clear as bells, just in time! People started to cheer, scream, and applaud! It was wonderful to see, even from so far away.

I love all these events, the eclipses, the comets, the showers, water on Mars, just lovely things that connect us to our solar system. We so often get so Earthcentric about our existence, losing sight of the untamed, undreamed of galaxy we live, not to mention the Universe. Where we have so much to learn, and yet the more we do learn, the more we see how much there is to.

These things really remind, that our home is much bigger then Earth.

Thank you, NASA!!
